Who Says Couples Have More Fun? Valentine's Day Ideas for the Girls

awomanunbroken

Who says Valentine's Day is just for couples? It's time to flip the script and make this day all about you! Here are some genius ways to celebrate yourself and enjoy every moment:

  1. Self-Love Spa Night: Draw a bubble bath, light some candles, and cue up your favorite tunes. Treat yourself to a spa night at home — bonus points for face masks, your comfiest robe, and a killer playlist. I like this one followed by number two myself.

  1. DIY Pizza & Rom-Com Marathon: Get your creative chef hat on and make your own heart-shaped pizza. Pair it with a rom-com marathon; classics or guilty pleasures – it's your call! In situations such as these, I enjoy the classics like, When Harry Met Sally, You've Got Mail, and The Notebook. They're light enough to not leave you balled up and bawling for the rest of the evening (unless you've never seen them). Don't forget the popcorn! This adorable personalized bowl is perfect for solo movie nights.

  2. Love Letter to Yourself: Grab some pretty stationery and write a heartfelt love letter to the most important person – you! Reflect on your achievements, qualities, and dreams. If you've been following me, you know I'm an advocate for a good writing exercise. I was the kid who got wildly excited about new school supplies. I ordered a pack of ink pens earlier today and felt a little thrill. Any paper will do, but I recommend romanticizing it if you can and treating yourself to real stationery. This set is massive, with matching envelopes, and is only about ten bucks.

  3. Dance Party for One: Create a killer playlist, turn up the volume, and dance like nobody's watching. It's not just about the moves; it's about the freedom to express yourself. Bonus: dancing gets the hips moving which releases stored emotions.

  4. Artistic Escape: Unleash your inner artist. Whether it's painting, drawing, or crafting, let your creativity flow. You might surprise yourself with a masterpiece! My daughters got the artistic genes whereas my creativity lies more in the written word. They paint quite well and my oldest finds it to be a great outlet for personal expression amid motherhood and domestic labor.

  5. Outdoor Adventure Day: Weather permitting, head outdoors for a solo adventure. Hiking, biking, or just a peaceful walk in nature can be incredibly refreshing. Here in the southeast, it's been a roller coaster of temps and other areas are seeing floods or tons of snow. If you are fortunate enough to live somewhere mild and dry enough in February to get outside, go for it!

If flying solo isn't for you or you want to get the gals together to celebrate, here are some fabulous ideas for celebrating loving friendships:

  1. Wine Tasting: Bring the vineyard to your living room! Pick a few favorite wines and let the good times flow. I suggest having each person bring something for a grazing table. Cheers to friendship!

  1. DIY Chocolate-Making Party: Get messy and delicious! Organize a chocolate-making party. Share recipes beforehand and create sweet treats together. I have long loved the candy conversation hearts and was so happy to find a mold that makes them in chocolate. If you want to get extra creative, this one makes a breakable 3D heart that you can fill with treats. Bonus: You get to enjoy the fruits of your labor!

  2. Memory Lane Movie Night: Create a movie list featuring all the films that define your friendship. Whether it's the movie where you laughed till you cried or the one that still gives you all the feels, make it a cinematic journey down memory lane. I highly recommend pajamas, fuzzy socks, no makeup, and your favorite snacks.

  3. Gals Game Night: Board games, card games, trivia – take your pick! It's all about friendly competition and lots of laughs. LCR, the 5-Second Rule, and 21st Century Trivia are my favorites these days. I'm always on the lookout for a fun game.

  4. Self-Love Workshop: Host a workshop focused on self-love. It could include activities like vision boarding, setting intentions, or even a short yoga session. Empower each other! I'm sure you can guess this is right up my alley. Vision boards are fun and last the whole year. Have everyone bring old magazines or scrap paper.

  5. Galentine's Gift Exchange: Embrace the spirit of giving! Set a budget, draw names, and exchange thoughtful gifts. It's like Secret Santa, but in February.

Remember, the best memories are made with the best people. Here's to the beautiful bond of friendship!
